Students, are you looking for a research project?
There is sufficient data from the 180+ tags to conduct actual research on the movements of different species, different genders of the same species, and seasonal movements. When you complete your research, you can submit it to WhaleNet for possible publication on the WhaleNet site.
Active Satellite Tags
Click on the names below to access data, maps and information about each tagged marine animal.
These satellite tagging units can be used in learning many concepts listed in the frameworks and national standards: geography, habitat use by organisms, math concepts, map skills, comprehensive reading, and more.
The active tags are listed below, and over 170 archived satellite tagging events are listed in the archive page from previous satellite tagging eventsWe have more tags scheduled. STOP back often.

Note about tag fixes:
- The position data (lat/long fixes) received is sometimes in decimal fractions of a whole degree, such as 30.50N degrees. To calculate the degree and minutes equivalent, multiply the decimal fraction times 60 minutes/degree, such as .50 x 60 = 30 minutes. In the case of 30.50 degrees, this equals 30 degrees and 30 minutes.
